President: Marta Ramirez

Marta was born in communist Cuba, where she learned the value of hard work, faith, and resilience at a young age. Her father was a pastor, and her mother—his devoted partner—instilled in Marta a love for learning and service. Despite growing up amid hardship, Marta’s experiences fortified her character and prepared her to lead with strength, compassion, and conviction.

An immigrant who arrived in Miami during the 1980 Mariel Boatlift, Marta proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1990. Her journey exemplifies the American dream—one marked by perseverance, service, and achievement. In recognition of her contributions as a community leader and successful immigrant, Marta received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, one of the nation’s most prestigious awards.

Marta is a seasoned Human Resources Executive with a proven track record of driving growth and cultivating talent in global organizations. Her professional career began at American Airlines in 1983, where she broke barriers as the only woman among 57 men on the ramp crew. Over 16 years, she advanced through the ranks and was honored at the White House in 1993 during the Reinventing Government initiative led by President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. She has since held leadership roles at major companies including Lucent Technologies, DHL, Geodis, DB Schenker, and PayCargo LLC.

Beyond her corporate accomplishments, Marta is deeply committed to humanitarian and educational causes. She and her husband have supported Mission to Haiti for over three decades, building schools and sponsoring medical missions. She is also a passionate mentor to young women, helping cultivate the next generation of global leaders.

As a long-time board member of the Beauty of Sight Foundation, Marta brings not only executive expertise but also a personal dedication to the foundation’s mission. An advocate for wellness and service, she finds joy in sunrises, books, and active living. Marta also serves on the boards of Live Like Bella, Florida Christian School, the FIU School of Logistics, and Have a Need Ministry.

Marta and her husband, Carlos, have one daughter, Isabella. As President of the Beauty of Sight Foundation, Marta leads with vision, heart, and a commitment to restoring sight and transforming lives.
